The nice name already gives it away, with the ZeBraroute zuid you connect Zeeland and Brabant in a swift manner. Near Athena Ossendrecht, 43 wonderful kilometers await you.
Yes, the days are getting longer and the sun's rays warmer. Nature is reviving, and so is our desire to ride. Time for a little tour around Athena Ossendrecht. You start about five kilometers from our park, towards Zeeland. Tip: you can follow the route, or make your tour even more fun by deviating left and right to discover an extra piece of natural beauty.
Exciting spectacle in the Bight of Bath
When you cross the Scheldt-Rhine Canal, you land on a special piece of South Beveland: Reimerswaal or the Land between the two Scheldes. This is Zeeland at its narrowest: a strip between the Oosterschelde and the Westerschelde. With cute villages, wonderfully connected by dikes, fields, meadows and orchards.
Your first fabulous vantage point is the Bight of Bath, where gigantic ships are meticulously making their way to the open sea. Nestle a little further on a bench or just in the grass. With some patience and luck, you'll spot a seal or two.
On to a geological wonder
Cross the land from the Westerschelde to the Oosterschelde and drive through the Rattekaai toward Brabantse Wal. That striking hump is a steep ridge with a height difference of more than twenty meters. An abrupt transition from high-lying sandy soil to low-lying polder clay. Hidden in the depths: layers of soil dating back to the Ice Age. Yep.
Above you enjoy beauty all the way to the horizon. On the way down, you see trenches from World War II. Below, the beautiful polder awaits. Recommended: the first viewpoint in Woensdrecht.
Pick up a piece of the cyclocross World Cup
Now head towards Hoogerheide, recently featured extensively during the cyclocross World Cup. On the way to Calfven you will find a viewpoint with a panorama table. Also worth a pit stop.
Then you pass through nature reserve the Noordpolder. The transitions of high and low, dry and wet, sand and clay create a unique landscape with special plants and animals. Many meadow birds breed there. Numerous pools are a paradise for dragonflies and amphibians. Chances are that you will also spot a marsh harrier, a roe deer or a grazing barnacle goose. In this season, the colors of the kingcup, the true cuckoo and the butterflies are a feast for the eyes.
And there is Ossendrecht again. Settle down on our terrace on De Baar or take a refreshing sauna in our renovated wellness.

Luigi Dumitrascu and his wife Mihaela are from Romania. They are great nature lovers and bee fans. They were kind enough last year to transfer some of their hives to our park in Meerbeek. Since then, young and old enjoy the fascinating bee population and its delicious honey.
A hive has a distinctive smell that almost everyone experiences as pleasant. That hive scent is a valuable tool to relieve symptoms of asthma, allergies, stress, depression and migraines. In addition, it acts as an aphrodisiac. This summer you can come and breathe in the special cabin at Athena Helios, without direct contact with the bees.

On July 22, 'Just Married Band' will be on stage at ATHENA Helios and on July 23 they will play their only concert in the Netherlands at Athena Ossendrecht.
Just Married Band is the pop folk duo from Mâcon (France) and consists of lovers Céline and Jérémy.
The duo was formed on the occasion of their wedding.

With a distinct taste for Tarantino movie soundtracks and a contemporary pop/folk repertoire reworked in a western guiguette style, the pair of musicians will take you on a journey full of surprises.
Jérémy on guitar, sometimes acoustic, sometimes electric, also equipped with an elaborate electronic drum system, makes heads shake and bodies tremble to tunes the pair has carefully selected.
Céline's authentic and distinctive voice carries you away, shakes you up and leaves you with sweet memories.
Their commitment and joyful silliness make a performance endearing and addictive.
Naturism
Being naturists for many years, it is quite normal for them to play concerts in naturist places.
They share the values of self-respect, respect for others and the environment, and, of course, nudity.
The performance is the same as a classical concert, but naked.

For a new program on VTM, they would like to come and film a few days at our holiday park, naturist camping Athena, in Ossendrecht. They would like to visualize how things are going at our place, get naturism out of hiding and, most of all, bring you stories.
After some nice conversations we are convinced that VTM will make a great program in which naturism is portrayed in a beautiful and honest way. The filming will of course be discreet and those who do not want to be in the picture will not be shown.

Weekend at ATHENA Ossendrecht (Friday to Monday) in our new FRAMILY accommodation. This way you can immediately introduce your friends or family to Athena 😉 . Dates to be determined in consultation, depending on availability and after September 7.
We are going to thoroughly renovate the 30-year-old sauna environment in Ossendrecht.
The spacious sauna room still looks picobello.
The shower, changing room and relaxation area will be thoroughly renovated.
Of course, we will also immediately start insulating better and heating smarter.
And who knows, maybe there will be a bonus, but that remains a surprise for now.
To realize this project, we have to close the sauna for a while for renovation work.
Closed sauna from Dec. 22 to April 1, 2023
On Wednesday, Dec. 21 (from 6:30 to 9 p.m.), the sauna will open as it is now for one last time to reopen, if all goes well, on April 1, fully renovated.
See you Wednesday or make a note in your calendar that you can come and test out the renovated sauna in April.
