We have great news that will make many children (and parents!) happy: the brand new playground at Athena Le Perron has officially opened! Today we got the green light from the inspection: the risk analysis was completed, everything was found to be safe - and so the fun of play can begin.
Playing in and with nature
This playground is not a standard place on a bare lawn. No, here everything is about natural play, the play equipment invites children to let their imagination run wild.

We have great news! Joeri and An, our groundskeepers and certified beekeepers, have brought their bees to Athena Helios! 🐝💛
A few days ago the bees arrived at the campsite early in the morning, and they immediately felt at home in our green oasis. Our littlest winged friends are now busy, enthusiastically collecting nectar and pollen.
We can't wait to harvest and share the fruits of their hard work! Stay tuned for the first harvest - we are sure it will be a sweet surprise! 🍯
After thirty years of faithful service, it was time for renewal! The technical installation of our outdoor pool in Ossendrecht received a thorough upgrade. And that was badly needed! Not only to meet the stricter regulations around swimming water that will be in force in the Netherlands from 2025, but also to offer you an even better swimming experience.
What has changed?
We completely replaced and upgraded the filters, pumps and control systems. This means our pool is now functioning optimally and fully compliant with the new requirements, including a mandatory risk analysis, legionella prevention, and strict hygiene measures. Water quality is also now even better monitored, tested and reported, so you can enjoy the swimming water with peace of mind.
New and improved
In addition to the technical upgrades, we took the opportunity to give the pool itself a major refresh! The lighting was updated, the tiles were cleaned and impregnated, the coping stones were repointed and the silicone joints replaced. The shower walls and the shoe wall also received a new coat of paint. Everything looks radiant again, ready for summer!
Back in the water!
After the renovation, the pool has been refilled and the water quality checked again. A fresh dip is possible again! 🌞 In addition, the aquagym sessions will start again soon, so be sure to stop by to join or relax in the water.
With these renovations, we are ready for more water and swimming fun.

We are very proud to introduce you to An and Joeri, our new caretakers. Their enthusiasm and passion for naturism should ensure a warm welcome and a great atmosphere at Athena Helios.
The new guardians of Athena Helios
We are two young fifty-somethings, from the Kempen region and East Flanders. We met as twenty-somethings, in Leuven. We lost touch for a while, until our paths crossed again in 2020. Yes, in that corona period where we were forced to fold back on ourselves and outdoor activities.
We both nurture a deep love of nature. We have been practicing ecological gardening for several years, in our own permaculture garden and in a communal bio-picking garden. In addition, we have recently become proud certified beekeepers and harvest our own honey.
Our philosophy: simplicity and nature
We have a special interest in all that nature produces and love spending time outdoors. Pure enjoyment, to the rhythm of the seasons and all that they offer us. This is our source of inspiration and energy. Hence naturism as a lifestyle - with an emphasis on simplicity, freedom and connection with nature.
Naturism lets us live in harmony with nature and makes us aware of the beauty and tranquility found in simplicity. It works to relieve stress. For us, it means a liberating way of life in which we can be ourselves, without masks. It invites respect, both for ourselves and for the world around us. Values we stand behind.
Helios, a great new challenge
We had been looking for a new joint challenge for some time. Something we could put our tons of energy and passion into, something we could do together. Athena Helios is a project that suits us and that we both put our shoulders to. We each wish to contribute in our own way to make Helios even more enjoyable, into a place where you feel at home carefree.
A powerful and committed team
An is the energetic side of the duo. She loves sports and adventure challenges such as the Oxfam Trailwalker, the 100 km run for Come on Against Cancer and other running races, and she loves zumba and salsa. She likes to roll up her sleeves and is socially engaged. Joeri is more the philosophical and quieter type. He takes a patient approach, making things fall into the fold in a calm manner, yet correctly and quickly. So An and Joeri complement each other perfectly and that is exactly what makes their cooperation strong.

After thirty years, it is time for a thorough renovation of the technical installation of the outdoor swimming pool at Camping Athena in Ossendrecht. This renovation is necessary to better comply with the new regulations around swimming water that will be in force in the Netherlands from 2025.
Under the new Environment Act and the Living Environment Activities Decree (Bal), swimming pools must meet higher standards for water quality, safety and incident management. For example, the pH level of the water will be more strictly regulated and swimming pools will have to be responsible for closing the pool in case of standard deviations.
One important change is the mandatory risk analysis and preparation of a management plan for water quality, legionella prevention and hygiene. The rules also call for regular incident recording and reporting of unusual occurrences. As a swimming pool operator, you must ensure not only water management, but also frequent testing and reporting of water quality.
To comply with these stricter regulations, it was decided to completely overhaul the pool's technical installation. Filters, pumps and control systems will be replaced and improved so that in the future the pool can meet the legal requirements without problems and the water quality remains at top level
The renovation is now underway, and although the pool is temporarily closed, we expect the new facility to be fully operational during April. Then our guests will again be able to take a refreshing dip in the beautifully renovated pool!
Our wellness will remain open during the works.

Starting this summer, children can have the time of their lives on a beautiful, sustainable playground at naturist campsite Athena Le Perron. In April, Speelmaatje, a specialist in original play facilities, will install this playground. The playground is perfect for adventure vacations and blends seamlessly with the natural environment of the campground.
Speelmaatje is a well-known name when it comes to designing and building playground equipment for schools, municipalities, nurseries and recreational parks. Previously they realized projects at places such as Athena Ossendrecht, the Lilse Bergen and Gaia Zoo. Soon visitors to Athena Le Perron will also be able to enjoy their creativity and craftsmanship.
Sustainable and natural
The playground equipment at Le Perron is made from robust robinia, a durable hardwood known for its characteristic whimsical shapes. This wood comes from plantation forests where there is a replanting obligation, making it an environmentally friendly choice. The natural look of robinia blends perfectly with the wooded Ardennes setting of the campground.
What can children expect?
The new playground offers something for everyone:
- A challenging climbing course: ideal for climbing, hanging, swinging and balancing.
- A slide on the embankment: with log steps for easy climbing back up.
- A nesting swing: for hours of swinging fun.
- A magnificent forest cottage: a place where children can let their imagination run wild and discover the forest animals in the area.

This playground not only provides fun, but also stimulates children's creativity and motor skills.
